Open mornings and Observations

Perth Montessori School provides your child with the opportunity to reach their full potential

Want to find out why people like Jeff Bezos (financial analyst) founder Amazon.com (Larry Page and Sergey Brin) Founders of Google, Jimmy Wales (cofounder and promoter of Wikipedia) Will Wright (Computer Game Designer and Original Designer of The Sims) all credit their Montessori education for much of their success.  Even Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak has been quoted as saying Montessori is a better form of education.

Since 1982, the Perth Montessori School has combined Montessori philosophy with current best education practice and developmental psychologies. We are an independent school, which caters to families seeking an approach to learning that encourages self-discipline, confidence, an ability to work independently and a love of learning that will be carried with your child for life.

Come to the Perth Montessori Open Morning to find out about the 100 years worth of science behind a Montessori education.  Child development research continues to show the importance of early childhood education.  Imagine a School that utilises an educational method that not only begins at the age of 3 but implements the latest scientifically proven educational development methodologies all the way through to High School!  Using the latest brain research technics, Paediatric neuropsychologists are also starting to show the brain development benefits of a Montessori education, importantly, sending their own children to Montessori schools. This Open Morning is an opportunity for all members of our community to educate themselves on Montessori.

One of the most important decisions you will make for your child is the choice of school for their education. In addition to academic outcomes, parents want their child’s education to be in an environment that matches their own expectations and values with regard to social and philosophical aspects and practices.  If your child had a voice in the future of their education they would say “Please, send me to Perth Montessori”!

Observations

Before joining our wonderful school part of the enrolment process requires you to attend an observation in the classroom cycle which your child would be joining.  You are also welcome to observe in more than one classroom, for example observe in both a 3 to 6 year old Cycle 1 classroom and a 6 to 9 year Cycle 2 classroom.

An observation lasts for 30 minutes.  Essentially we would like you to sit quietly and observe the dynamics of a working Montessori classroom.  Often parents come away astounded at both how busy and yet how focussed the children are in a Montessori classroom.  Some of the things a person might see would be the Director (teacher) working either with one or a small group of children doing a particular lesson while other children are busy and focussed doing their work.  An observation often provides parents with that "wow" moment when they see that children love to learn given the right environment.

We hope you enjoy undertaking an observation and look forward to welcoming you to our community.
